Doting on Delta

Doting on Delta

We know and love her as Australia's angelic 'it' girl, but is delta as saintly as we think?

'Believe Again' will be your first national tour in three years, areN't
you just a little bit nervous?
No way! I'm so excited, I can't wait! There are so many songs people will know and be able to sing along to. Touring is the cherry on top - it's seeing all the faces of the people singing your songs back to you and having loads of fun. I get to create an environment that I want everyone to step into.

Do you find travelling all the time difficult - especially without Brian?
Yes, of course, the changing time zones and the constant packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking can drive me a little crazy. I have learnt to accept I am a gypsy but it doesn't mean you don't miss your loved ones intensely.

Do you see yourself making music forever or would you like to explore other avenues, such as acting?
I want to be in music for 100 years to come, while having other hobbies that I enjoy, like learning languages and sport.

Is it true you were once on Hey Dad!?
Yes, I still remember it very clearly - live studio audience and all the rehearsals. I loved it! I played Arthur's girlfriend. Interesting though, the gentlemen who cast me in A Country Practice when I was seven years old also cast me in Neighbours when I was 17.

Do you feel like you constantly have to reinvent yourself as a pop artist?
I don't think you actually purposely reinvent yourself, you are forever evolving as an individual and you want to reflect where you are in that moment. You never feel the same as you did last year! I know exactly what I want to do for the next album because I did what I did on this album, now I need to feel fresh, too, and explore other sides.

What do you love about Sydney?
The second I step off a plane in Sydney, there is something about the fresh air - it is just the most beautiful place in the world. I love the people, everything, it's home!

What's on your ipod at the moment?
It's varied; I have lots of playlists. Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, The Eurythmics, Alanis Morissette, Jewel, The Cranberries and The Corrs lately. The new Coldplay record, too.

What are you looking forward to?
I know after this next couple of months' work I have the tour, and that is the most exciting thing! It will be Christmas, which I love, then touring, so that's what I'm looking forward to.

What do you love about Brian?
Everything! He's my man.

Do you have any wicked secrets?
A good girl can still be a bit wicked.

Tickets for Delta's 'Believe Again' tour go on sale August 21. She will perform at Westfield Parramatta on the same day at 5pm.
