Model-turned-TV actress-turned-singer Holly Valance is now on the search for stardom in hollywood.
Who she looks up to
My mum - she's an incredibly strong woman who has given me all my good traits - and some of my bad ones. Musically, Madonna. I think Beyonce is doing some wicked stuff at the moment - and Britney. Acting-wise, I don't really have any favourite females. I like Sean Penn and Edward Norton.
What she looks for in a guy
I think laughter is the number one most important thing. Someone who can be witty and really make you giggle. I'm a kinda smart-ass and I need someone to keep me on my toes. And also intelligence. I've met people that are gorgeous to look at and then you have a conversation and think, "oh dear".
On the changing face of the music industry
No one can make any money. You put in so much effort and put in so many long hours for not much return. I was making all my money from endorsements and appearances but I didn't make that much from the actual record sales. I think everyone is suffering in the music industry.
On having three careers
When I was young and modelling it was a great experience and introduction into the entertainment industry. I made way more money than any 13 year old should and I liked working hard and achieving things for myself. Acting was something early on in life I was stimulated by but I never thought of it as a realistic job for myself. It seemed so far away from my normal upbringing but once I was given the opportunity to audition for Neighbours my senses told me this was something I had to give a go. I'm from a very musical background with my family so it's only natural for me to have a creative instinct and interest in music. But it's an extremely hard industry and I was putting in more than I got out so I've put it on the backburner for a while. And I missed acting.

Living in the UK for the past few years, what Holly misses most about home
Even though I've been living overseas for many years, Melbourne will always be my home. I miss our wonderful boutiques - Chapel St is fantastic for the most unique, gorgeous feminine clothing. I love the night-life. The great bars, wonderful food and restaurants - great nightclubs as well if you like a dance. And it's not really that bad, but I'm a bit of a summer girl and the winter can get a bit cold.
Holly Valance stars alongside Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace in the thriller Taken, out August 14.
