For most Sydneysiders the New Year started with a bang on January 1 with fireworks, celebratory drinks, resolutions and the first challenge of 2010 - finding a way to get home. For the Chinese, and many other Asian cultures, the New Year actually starts on February 14 - the first New Moon of the year on the Chinese calendar.
To find out what lies ahead for the Year of the Tiger, we spoke to Australia's number-one astrologer, Milton Black.
"The Year of the Tiger is traditionally associated with massive changes and social upheaval in all quarters.
''This year we'll see major economic changes worldwide, with an emphasis on bold, political moves and policies,'' he says. ''Everything good and bad will be carried to extremes, especially matters related to our well being, financial and emotional security."
Black believes the Year of the Tiger can be unpredictable and at times you might need a sense of humour to get you through the difficult times.
"Your success this year will only be rewarded through planning, hard work and maintaining a conscientious effort to keep our priorities in order. Any conflict we encounter this year will be because of impatience, selfishness the lack of compromise", he says.
