Fresh from supporting The Pussycat Dolls and Lady Gaga in Sydney, Melbourne R&B DJ Havana Brown is set to try her own hand at the mike.
Tell us what The Pussycat Dolls and Lady Gaga are like.
The Pussycat Dolls are beautiful girls. They're so nice and friendly - they're just like your girlfriends! You want to hang out with them. Backstage, there's no pretension. Lady Gaga is also very cool. She's my favourite superstar at the moment. I especially love her styling - the fingerless gloves and the shoulder pads!
Have you always been a bit of a performer?
I went to Johnny Young Talent School when I was about five, which taught me a lot about dancing and performing. I even got to dance in Disneyland in the US! [Funnily enough, Young Talent Time's Vince Del Tito is now her manager.] I also went to the David Jaanz School of Singing.
How did you get into R&B DJing?
About four years ago, I moved to the UK to work with dance group Supafly, who are responsible for hits Let's Get Down and Moving Too Fast. Along with another guy, we formed the group, Fishbowl. We did really well. We finished an amazing album and got signed to major record label Polydor, but, unfortunately, not long after, the group came to an end before the release of the first single. I was so upset it didn't work out and wasn't sure what my next step would be! I definitely did not think that it would be DJing. But after a night out with the girls, I had a crazy idea that turned out to be the best idea. I loved it straightaway. I'm living and breathing what I love - music. I'm very lucky!

Where do you get your exotic looks from?
I was born in Melbourne, but my parents are from the French colonised island of Rodrigues. It's a really beautiful, clean place! A lot of celebrities go there, because there's no paparazzi and it's so untouched.
What's next for you?
I have a few international DJing tours coming up this year. The first will be in Taipei, doing some shows for alcohol company Hennessy. Then, I will be doing a tour throughout Asia, including stops in Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines. I am also especially excited about releasing my own music later this year. I have been developing my music style for years and it's finally come together. So it's going to be an absolute thrill to play my own songs in the club!
DJ Havana Brown's second compilation album, Crave Vol. 2, is out now through Universal Music.
