Abi Tucker has hung up her cowboy boots from McLeod's Daughters and hit the road with her own soul music.

We hear you broke your leg before your first planned album tour.
Yeah, I broke my left leg and right foot! It was just a silly accident - really unremarkable. It was after I'd finished McLeod's Daughters, so it wasn't even falling off a horse or anything! It did take awhile to get back on my feet - literally. It took me right up to when we opened for [Matt Cameron's play] Poor Boy
in Melbourne, which was intense, because there were three flights of stairs in the show. It's funny because someone said to me that very day, 'Break a leg', and lo and behold...!

Tell us more about the title track, One December Moon, about a man you met at an internet cafe in the Outback.
It wasn't so much a romance as it was a contact, because I was getting over someone at the time. So, it was that thing of 'moving on'. It was that bright light that just initiated a different frame of mind - a serendipitous moment. It felt like a gift to spruce up my head and love life and it warranted a song!

Do you have much time for love with your work?
I'm a great believer in love and I think it's one of my major motivations. I guess there is the love of my life out there and I don't know whether I've met them yet! But, I know I have been in love and will be in love sometime again soon. How does it feel to have had your indie album released in Europe as well?
It's really exciting actually. It's funny because a lot of the following over there is from my Heartbreak High days [an acting role in her 20s]. And, I was really fortunate to have McLeod's come along, which helped me to fund the record.

Where do most people on the street recognise you from?
It depends where I am! Some people in the regional areas were really big McLeod's supporters and the show ended on such a high. I also get remembered from Heartbreak High sometimes, which is totally weird [being so long ago], as well as The Secret Life Of Us.

How's Play School going, too?
Play School's a really good learning show. I nearly died when I saw [characters] Humpty and Big Ted in the flesh! The show's got a beautiful rhythm.
