It didn't matter there was a chill in the air and the threat of rain, the little open-air French restaurant on Sydney Wharf felt like the warmest place on the harbour when we stopped in for lunch last week. The friendly waiters welcomed us with deliciously warm crusty French epi with tapenade and pesto butter, $7, which chased away any winter chills. The rustic menu, created by head chef Richard Park, champions simply prepared dishes and fresh seasonal produce and is a delight to peruse. After much deliberation, I decided on the roast scallops with black pudding, pancetta and waldorf salad, $19, and followed with roast snapper on a pea, parsley and lemon risotto, $28, both are highly recommended and turn the Ripples mantra of affordable French bistro fare into something truly fabulous.
